They noted that Wal-Mart was investigated by Human Rights Watch, noting that:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Human Rights Watch, a non-governmental group based in New York, is best known for scathing reports on political issues such as the Rwandan genocide and the Congo&#8217;s use of children in its military.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The clear implication, of course, is that Wal-Mart&#8217;s treatment of its workers rises to a level of concern consistent with genocide and child conscription, because it&#8217;s non-union.<\/p>\n<p>My standard for concern about an organization is somewhat different.  If an organization has people <a href=\"http:\/\/www.suntimes.com\/news\/metro\/73731,CST-NWS-walmart27.article\">beating down the doors<\/a> to get in, it&#8217;s probably not a problem how they&#8217;re treating their workers.  If an institution has people <a href=\"http:\/\/images.google.com\/imgres?imgurl=http:\/\/newsimg.bbc.co.uk\/media\/images\/40224000\/jpg\/_40224133_border_ap2203.jpg&#038;imgrefurl=http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/asia-pacific\/3932591.stm&#038;h=152&#038;w=203&#038;sz=13&#038;hl=en&#038;start=15&#038;um=1&#038;tbnid=5vN1_z1B1h17UM:&#038;tbnh=79&#038;tbnw=105&#038;prev=\/images%3Fq%3Descaping%2Bnorth%2Bkorea%26svnum%3D10%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG\">risking<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/uscgaviationhistory.aoptero.org\/images\/Mariel_Boatlift_1%20red%20Diamond.jpg\">their<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/nhs.needham.k12.ma.us\/cur\/Baker_00\/2001_p4\/Baker_dr_bd_mh_p4\/crosses_wall.jpg\">lives<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/newsimg.bbc.co.uk\/media\/images\/40967000\/jpg\/_40967132_raft.jpg\"><a href=\"http:\/\/image.guardian.co.uk\/sys-images\/Politics\/Pix\/pictures\/2005\/03\/22\/vietnamese_boatpeople300.jpg\">to<\/a><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.floatingcubans.com\/\">flee<\/a>, that&#8217;s probably an institution that needs some outside monitoring.<\/p>\n<p>The workers of the world deserve better.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today is International Workers&#8217; Day throughout the socialist and communist world, including the Daily Kos, who took this opportunity to slam Wal-Mart.
