At first, I thought their headline “Mugabe’s remarkable comeback” was an Onion story. In fact, it was a BBC story<\/a> that somehow managed to write about Mugabe’s brutal suppression of democracy with a sense of awe.<\/p>\n

It has been done with great brutality, but Robert Mugabe has achieved an extraordinary turnaround here.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This reminds me–true story–of a trip some American executives took to Japan in the mid-1980s. At Hiroshima, one of the men commented to his host, “My, this city looks a lot newer than the others we’ve visited.”<\/p>\n
